We didn't disappear!!!

Man, has it been a long time or what? I cannot believe my last post was over a year ago. The power trio are now 2.5 and they are constantly on the move. We absolutely love it though. We honestly couldn't wait until they were walking and talking. E is our most talkative one but the boys are catching up fast. Right now it's all about being outside and in the pool. There is never a dull moment in the King household these days. I just wanted to post and say that we are still hangin in there and will be posting as often as we can. I will be posting another post shortly as I must document my mom mixing up the boys while she and my dad were watching them for us when we went on vacation...stay tuned!!

Eliminating a Bottle...What Fun!!!

Today is day one of beginning the process of eliminating bottles and so far so good. The hard part is starting a whole new schedule but it will be so worth with once ALL the bottles are gone. We were on 4 bottles a day (7,11,3 &7) and today we have moved to 3 bottles a day. We started with breakfast at 7am instead of a bottle and we made it to 8:30 before giving them their first bottle of the day. The emphasis is on solid foods instead of bottles. It does make me nervous as to whether or not they will get enough calcium since they have not fully mastered the sippy cup. And they prefer water in their cups over milk. I am just trying to give them plenty of calcium based foods at their meals to make up for the lack of milk (formula). In the end I know it will all work out but it's hard not worry about them:)

I started this post this morning so I can officially say that day 1 was a success and we are down to 3 bottles a day no going back! The kids did a great job today. I am amazed by how adaptable the kids are. On to day 2....

Early to Bed..Later to Rise????

It seems like a weird concept however I really think it has some truth to it. The time change caused us to be somewhat lax on the kids' bedtime and Grayson took it upon himself to start getting up at 5:30 in the morning which is a no-no in my book. So we are back to in bed at 7pm. This doesn't mean they are asleep by 7pm but they are at least in their rooms headed in that direction. Last night they were all asleep by 7:30 so we'll see what tonight brings. Grayson slept until 6:30 this morning so we are on the right track (finger tightly crossed).

A schedule is everything when you have multiples but I think it is also something singleton parents should consider because when baby #2 comes around you will already have baby #1 in a routine. It has been a life saver for us and it is something we have always stuck with. This way they eat at the same time and sleep at the same time, for the most part. Naps are where they differ. They do go down at the same time but they dont always sleep the same amount of time. In the early days, once a schedule was established, we would only let them sleep an hour in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. However, we quickly learned that they perfered to sleep longer during heir morning naps then their afternoon ones so we started lettinf them sleep as long as they wanted to for either. Regardless, of how many times I have had to adjust the schedule it has been a life saver and I couldn't imagine what it would be like without it.

I will keep you posted on whether or not Grayson goes back to his 7am wake up....

Daylight Savings Time....UGH!!!

Don't get me wrong I love the extra daylight it gives us but it sure has left a lasting impression on me this time around. Maybe it's me getting older or maybe its the fact that I can't sleep whenever I want to catch up on that hour I missed but I have been nothing but tired since the time changed. I am going to go with the latter. Last year when the time changed the babies were only 9 weeks old and had only been home 2 weeks so sleep was not happening what so ever. I guess we'll see if next year is any better being that the government has yet to do away with the whole time change thing. That's enough about Day Light Savings Time....

The kids are so much fun right now. I really enjoy being around them. They interact with us so much more as they are getting older. As they get older and learn new things it brings on more challenges but I am standing by my "I wont miss the early days" statement! Nathan and Emery are going to be walking as good as Grayson within the next couple of weeks which means they will be into everything in opposite directions. Which means our entire house is going to be wrapped in Superyards. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about they are the gates you can put in a circle to enclose your child within a specific area. We use them as complete barriers. The playroom is already surrounded by them and we are actively searching for 2 more as we need them for the dinning room and fireplace. To us these are lifesavers, it keeps us from saving no 100 times as they keep the kids away from everything they shouldn't be into (electric outlets, wine cabinet, windows, rails, etc). So don't be surprised the next time you come to our house to see the entire downstairs encased in Superyards..lol!

Our most recent purchase for the kids was the Step2 Choo-Choo wagon which we LOVE!! It is not the most versatile thing but it is definitely something that is easy to get the kids in and out of and they love it. As you can see below it is not something that will go undetected...................

Back at it.........

Ok, so don't hold it against me that it has taken me until March 1 to actually start the blog up again. I had every intention to start sooner but one thing became another and another. Regardless, I am FINALLY back at it. My plan for the blog is to no longer update you with every little thing but to provide a little insight to our daily life as full time working parents of triplets. Being parents of multiples is harder than you will ever know unless you are one but throw in the fact that they were premature and it takes the hard up a notch. We have been very fortunate with the health of E,G & N and how well they are doing but there are times we have to remember that even though they are 13.5m old actual they are only 11m adjusted. They take longer to do things which can be frustrating at times but we just have to remember that they were 10 weeks early and therefore spent time outside of the womb developing when they should have been doing that in the womb. That being said everyone is doing well developing on target in some areas, ahead in others and slightly behind in a few. Of course, we are focused on getting the ones they are behind in taken care of as soon as possible and thankfully because the of their prematurity they qualify for Early Intervention Programs with the county. They have been evaluated and the boys will begin receiving speech therapy while Emery receives Physical Therapy once a week. We are excited to see how well the therapy helps and how quickly we will see changes. I will be sure to provide updates.

Since it has been over 6 months since you received any updates on everyone I will provide a little insight to where they are now and who they have become..... Emery is our social butterfly. She is very chatty, loves to sit with anyone as long as they are talking to her. She loves to point and wave right now and is trying really hard to walk. She has really flexible limbs and is bow legged so we think that makes it a little more challenging for her to walk but we know she will get it very soon. Grayson is our first official walker. He is ALL boy and doesn't seem to have much fear. He loves to be busy and doesn't require as much sleep as the other two. Nathan is our sweet little boy who loves to laugh. I think he will be our next official walker as he generally doesn't let Grayson out shine him for long. He is still dealing with reflux and is the smallest of the 3 but it doesn't slow him down. He is a fighter and has been since day one.

Here are some recent pics for everyone to enjoy:

New Year's Resolution

Our New Year's resolution is to get this blog back up and running. We want to share all the exciting things that have been and will be going on in the King household! We do want to make this blog more private so we are going to require a password to be entered. If you want to be able to follow us please send an email to whoever you know in order to give us your email address so we can add you to the list of people who will have permission to view our blog. Nathan is canulla free!!!!

Yep, you read the title right. Finally, after 5 1/2 months with a cannula Nathan has been taken off the oxygen. For the next 3 weeks we will put the oxygen back on him when he is sleeping on a very, very low flow. The doctor said he doesn't need it at all but they want to make sure he continues to grow sufficiently over the next few weeks before removing it totally. We LOVE being able to see his little face without the cannula on. It has been a long road for Nathan but through it all he has remained the sweetest little boy. Well, we just wanted to share our GREAT news with everyone and to of course show you some pics of Nathan cannula free......

Look at his cute little face....

Hanging with his sister...

Paw-Paw & the whole bunch, do you think he has his hands full or what??

Do u think we are going to have a hard time telling them apart???
